It’s been a massive week and a half since we officially launched SceneStar. The reception to our zero-prompt cinematic AI has been so positive, but I always knew that single-player mode was just the beginning. Today, I’m stoked to announce our biggest update yet: SceneStar Community. We are officially bringing multiplayer to AI video.
Star Together. Split the Bill.
When I set out to build SceneStar, I wanted to make the absolute best AI video models in the world accessible to anyone. I had been using Veo 3 on a commercial project in 2025 and Seedance 2.0 when it launched in 2026. But world-class AI compute is expensive. So, I built a hack to overcome that barrier.
With SceneStar Community, you can now add your friends, invite them instantly into shared scene lobbies, and co-star in videos together. If you want to star with your best friend in a blockbuster movie trailer, a high-octane action short film, a music video, a pro-wrestling match, or even a dysfunctional news team - you can now share the screen time.
Even better? You share the cost. By splitting the scene costs among the people in the lobby, high-quality, ultra-customized AI video is now incredibly affordable. It's the ultimate workaround to get premium AI generation at a fraction of the price.

The response from our early testers has been amazing. We're seeing exactly the kind of engagement we hoped for. One user remarked to me, "this is pretty addictive, man." Even better, as our initial testing phase wraps up, we are already seeing a couple of those early testers go on to purchase credit packs so they can keep creating.
What’s Next?
We’re going all-in on the multiplayer experience. We have a ton of new shared scene templates in the works, and we plan to expand customisation options even further. But our core promise isn't changing: we are keeping the workflow as simple and friction-free as possible. No complex prompting, no steep learning curves. Just pick a scene, invite your mates, and steal the show.

Finally, some exciting news. SceneStar has been selected as one of the 25 startups exhibiting at the Challengers Expo, the flagship opening event of Auckland Startup Week!
The expo is on October 12th, from 10:00 am to 2:00 pm at GridAKL (John Lysaght Building) in the Wynyard Quarter. I’m really looking forward to meeting the other founders building the next wave of Kiwi tech, and showing off what SceneStar can do live.
